VS2012 BI Installer error - Rule "Same architecture installation" failed.

I was trying to upgrade my Visual Studio 2012 to allow editing Business Intelligence projects by installing SQL Server Data Tools (thread on that topic), so I downloaded this installer for the SQL Server Data Tools and chose an existing SQL Server 2012 instance to install to, then I got this error 'Rule "Same architecture installation" failed.'

After some searching it appears that you need to choose to perform a "new installation".

Here are the links where I found this information:

Quickbooks QBFC 80040154 "Co-Create error"?

Today I got "Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {EE7620FE-2EE1-4077-8A52-E485E85DD6B1} failed due to the following error: 80040154." Found out it was because I was including multiple instances (different versions) of the same class (QBFC4,6,8) so excluded the old dlls and everything worked.

ASP.NET 2.0 TreeView

Ugh, this control does not work with AJAX. It's giving me all sorts of horrible return values. Select Item # 3031, (CALLBACK! Change selection to 5608!). Now you have no idea what was clicked on. Have a nice day!

Will Likely switch to Telerik RadTreeView
